The Story

Leo was a quiet boy who lived in a cozy house at the end of Maple Street. He had a secret that made him special - inside his chest beat a little heart that could glow when he was brave. But Leo didn't know about this magic yet.

One morning, Leo's teacher announced that everyone would give a presentation about their favorite animal. Leo's stomach fluttered like a butterfly cage had opened inside him. He loved learning about animals, especially dolphins, but the thought of standing in front of the whole class made his hands shake.

"I can't do it," Leo whispered to his best friend Maya during lunch. "What if I forget what to say? What if everyone laughs?"

Maya smiled kindly. "You know more about dolphins than anyone I know. Remember when you told me about how they talk to each other? That was amazing!"

That night, Leo lay in bed feeling worried. His grandmother, who was visiting, sat on the edge of his bed. "What's troubling you, little one?" she asked gently.

Leo told her about the presentation and how scared he felt. His grandmother placed her hand over his heart and said something that surprised him: "Did you know that courage isn't about not being scared? Courage is about being scared and trying anyway."

"Really?" Leo asked, his eyes wide.

"Really. And I'll tell you a secret - you have a brave little heart inside you. Every time you choose to try something even when you're scared, it glows a little brighter."

The next day came quickly. Leo's turn arrived, and his legs felt wobbly as he walked to the front of the class. His heart was beating so fast he was sure everyone could hear it. But then he remembered his grandmother's words.

"I'm going to tell you about dolphins," Leo began, his voice quiet but clear. As he started sharing the amazing facts he loved - how dolphins have names for each other, how they play games, how they help other dolphins in trouble - something wonderful happened.

Leo forgot to be scared. His voice grew stronger, his eyes lit up, and he even made his classmates laugh when he imitated a dolphin's clicking sounds. When he finished, everyone clapped enthusiastically.

"That was incredible, Leo!" his teacher said. "You taught us so much!"

As Leo walked back to his seat, he felt something warm and bright in his chest. For just a moment, he could swear he saw a gentle golden glow coming from his heart. His grandmother was right - his brave little heart was shining.

From that day on, whenever Leo felt scared about trying something new - joining the school play, learning to ride a bike, or making a new friend - he would remember that courage wasn't about not being afraid. It was about letting his brave little heart shine, even when his hands were shaking.
